The following changes were made:
- By mixing the traditional furnishings
and cabinet design with contemporary art, the resulting eclectic
interior created a timeless elegance, which Margaret Gulinson
refers to as "today's
traditional look".
- The monochromatic color scheme accented the
original art displayed in the home.
- Original den drapery was used,
changing the mauve trim to taupe.
- All wood beams, cabinets and trim were painted
Dover White downstairs.
- Carpet, paint and wall coverings throughout
the house were updated.
- All new furnishings were selected for the
den, except the leather lounge chair with ottoman, visible in the
lower right hand corner.
- Contemporary art pieces were commissioned,
featuring fiber art on the fireplace wall, and a
paper mask on
the opposite wall. Contemporary prints were added to highlight
the black baby grand piano in the music room. Client
trips to England brought back additional colorful pieces of art.
- Gulinson Designs contracted the painting,
carpeting, and purchased and installed furniture, art, plants and
accessories.
