The timeless elegance of
this home is captured in the formal living areas surrounding the suspended
staircase. Attention to molding details adds to the rich quality of the home. Oriental rugs warm up the beautiful wood floors. The house flows from a formal elegance in the dining room to a casual relaxed atmosphere in the kitchen and hearth room. |

The elegant living
room is affectionately called "Gramma's Room". The client inherited
the furniture from the paternal grandmother. No one else in the
extended family wanted the pitiful looking furniture. The upholstered
pieces needed to be recovered and repaired. We were called over to look at the room full of dilapidated furniture and see what could be done to salvage it. After restoration and reupholstering the pieces, the rest of the family was wishing they had volunteered to take it! No one knows who the lady hanging on the wall is, so she was named "Lady Lydia" and resumed her place over the sofa where she resided for years at Gramma's house. |

The hearth room and kitchen offer a wonderful warmth and friendliness to the casual area of the home. Cabinets are knotty pine with pewter hardware. The fireplace which is formal on the living room side, takes on a casual look when encased in stone and knotty pine on the hearth room side. Fabrics in dark blues, greens and burgundy beautifully compliment the traditionally styled knotty pine cabinets and pewter hardware. |

The breakfast room opens onto a deck and wooded backyard. The client opted to keep the windows bare to enjoy the view. The island in the kitchen is open underneath the butcher block top for family or guests to sit while their hosts are putting the finishing touches on the meal. The breakfast room table was designed with the same turned leg detail of the island, which has a painted dark green cabinets / legs and a wood top. |
